Fairtrade Assembly

This week, Martin and Jackie from the Fairtrade Justicia shop in Bolton came in to school to present an assembly about the benefits of purchasing Fairtrade items and other work that Fairtrade does around the world.

The children learned how the Fairtrade premium helps families to pay for school places for their children and to earn enough to help them to have a better and fairer life.

The children were helped to understand how so many of the things that we take for granted in this country are not always available in other countries such as clean water and electricity.

The children in Year Five had been writing letters of persuasion to encourage the supermarkets to stock more Fairtrade items and some of our pupils presented Martin and Jackie with a copy of their letters made into a book.
