Outstanding Nursery ISI

Little Gems Nursery at Clevelands Prep Rated OUTSTANDING

Little Gems Nursery at Clevelands Preparatory School is celebrating an exceptional achievement after being awarded OUTSTANDING in every area by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) following its September 2025 inspection.

Inspectors praised the nursery’s warm, nurturing environment and its inspiring curriculum, confirming:
“The overall effectiveness of the early years provision is outstanding.”

Exceptional Learning & Care

The ISI highlighted children’s remarkable progress in communication, independence and emotional development, noting that children are “extremely motivated”, “show pleasure in their learning,” and benefit from strong, trusting relationships with staff.

Leaders were commended for their ambitious vision and high expectations. Staff deliver an inspiring curriculum built on attachment, curiosity and experience, ensuring every child is fully prepared for the next stage of their education.

In a rare outcome for any Early Years provision, inspectors confirmed:
“There are no recommended next steps.”

A Fast-Growing Early Years Community

Little Gems now welcomes almost 120 children, up from just 15 a year ago, reflecting high parental confidence in the nursery-to-prep journey Clevelands provides. The recently opened Clevelands Baby Retreat, launched by the Mayor of Bolton, offers gentle, specialist care for babies from 6 months and has quickly become highly sought after.

Voices from the Nursery

Emily Morgan, Nursery Manager, said:
“Our Outstanding judgement represents the love, care and professionalism our team brings to every child. Watching children grow from the Baby Retreat through Nursery and into Prep is incredibly special.”

Zoe Speck, Headteacher, added:
“Families value our continuity from 6 months to 11 years. This Outstanding result reflects significant investment in Early Years and the exceptional dedication of our staff.”

A parent commented:
“Our child is confident, settled and flourishing. We wouldn’t choose anywhere else.”
