Year Four have been learning how and why the Jewish Festival of Hanukkah is celebrated.

They acted out the story of Hanukkah when Judah Maccabee and his small Jewish army defeated the mighty Greeks and King Antiochus resulting in them reclaiming their temple in Jerusalem.

The miracle was that the oil for the eternal flame should have lasted one day but was still burning after eight days.

The children then played the game Dreidel which traditionally forms part of the celebrations.
