Money in Maths

As there is very little opportunity for children to handle money in today’s society in their Unit of Work on
‘Money’, Year Three had the opportunity to use ‘money’, including £20 £10 and £5 notes and all the different coins, to understand how to identify different amounts of money and then progress to changing pence to pounds and pence and vice versa. They then moved on to adding and subtracting money in a role play situation with a
‘shopkeeper’ and a ‘customer’. This allowed them the opportunity to understand the concept of giving ‘change’.
