Good to Sew

Year Two have been busy learning how to sew this week, in order to prepare for the culmination of their Design Technology project for the half term when they will make hand puppets.

Sewing is not only a useful skill for later life, but it enables children to gain skills which will allow them to express their creativity. Practicing using a needle strengthens children’s fingers and develops their fine motor skills, which in turn will improve pencil control and handwriting.

The class have shown great perseverance when sewing this week, as at times it has been quite trying!

They have supported each other to develop their skills and have shown great kindness and understanding. Their patience has paid off however and they are all feeling proud of their work... and so they should! Well done Year Two.
