Academic Life
Specialist teachers and positive atmosphere enhance academic life
A positive atmosphere is cultivated at Clevelands School so that your child can feel at home, and staff can grow to know each child throughout their academic life. Our specialist teachers work with children in Music, French, and P.E.
Learning is based on firm foundations, so in the first three years of your child’s education, we give priority to reading, comprehension, writing, and numeracy. We monitor your child’s progress regularly, which means that any difficulties are identified, and we are able to offer your child adequate support and guidance straight away. Thinking skills, creativity, and individual expression are promoted at every opportunity by basing our curriculum on the traditional approach to learning. For children with more ongoing difficulties, such as dyslexia, we offer continuous support throughout their time with us. Priority is given to reading, comprehension, writing, and numeracy. In the 2026 Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, 87.5% of our pupils met the expected standard, exceeding both the 2025 national figure of 80% and the projected 2026 national figure of 82%.
