Kitchen Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Manager to join our school. Could that be you?

About the Position

As our Kitchen Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running and managing of our kitchen facilities. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will contribute to creating a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors. You will take pride in managing our school catering services.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing nutritious, balanced and appealing menus that comply with dietary guidelines and budget constraints.
  • Ensuring that food is prepared safely, efficiently and in accordance with health regulations.
  • Training of and supervising kitchen staff, including assigning duties and scheduling shifts.
  • Monitoring and controlling the kitchen's budget, including tracking expenses and managing cost-effective purchasing.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inventory, purchases and meal counts.
  • Addressing concerns from students, staff and parents regarding meal services and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Arranging the catering and staffing for school functions and events, as instructed by the Headmistress.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience of food service management, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Relevant certifications in food safety and hygiene, and the ability to manage and motivate kitchen staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities for interacting with staff, pupils and school administrators.
  • Competence in budgeting and cost control.
  • Aptitude for addressing issues related to food supply, staff performance and kitchen operations efficiently.
  • Commitment to providing healthy, balanced meals that meet dietary guidelines and cater to diverse customer needs.
  • Ability to adapt to changing menus and any unexpected challenges.
  • Ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness are consistently met.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and build positive relationships within the school community.
