Year Six have been busy writing analogy poems in the style of Roger McGough this week. We studied his poem 'Crocodile in the City' and tried to create similar poems with different meanings.
We are extremely proud of some of our children that won the Northwest Schools Ski Championships mixed team slalom this weekend at Pendle. One of our Year Six girls is now the North West Schools Junior Girls Champion too!

As part of their English Creative Writing lessons, Year Three have been writing rhyming and non-rhyming poetry. The non-rhyming poem had an animal or creature theme and the children had to use adjectives, adverbs and similes to describe their chosen animal or creature and also explain how they felt about it.
Over the past few weeks, Year Six have worked tremendously hard preparing for our annual charity market. They created advertisement posters and visited other classes regularly to promote the event.

Reception Class have been trying to keep a secret this week! They've spent part of every day thinking, writing, drawing and painting about their Mums and everything that is so special about them.
On Tuesday we took part in a fun play netball event. This is designed to allow schools to play lots of games and prepare themselves for the main Netball tournament in April.
Yesterday afternoon, Clevelands Prep, went to Smithills Secondary School to compete in the Town Athletics Final. It is an extremely tough competition and requires children to perform at a really high level.
As the weather grew colder this week, Reception Class noticed ice forming in the Infant playground so they decided to try an experiment, testing all they'd been learning about water.

Reception Class enjoyed using their observational skills to notice fine details when they looked at the daffodils that had grown from bulbs in a pot through the winter.
On Thursday 1st March, the children through school celebrated World Book Day by coming into school dressed as their favourite book character.
This week, Martin and Jackie from the Fairtrade Justicia shop in Bolton came in to school to present an assembly about the benefits of purchasing Fairtrade items and other work that Fairtrade does around the world.
