Pancakes became a very popular dish to eat in the UK on Shrove Tuesday because they contain foods which were forbidden during Lent.

Although the tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday started as a Christian event, Pancake Day is celebrated by people all over the UK regardless of religion.

Year One had a wonderful time by first making the pancakes then devouring them with their favourite topping! It linked nicely with our English unit on instructions as they wrote their own instructions on how to create the perfect pancake!
