Christingle Candles

Year Five have been learning about signs and symbols in their R.E. lesson this term. They enjoyed making a Christingle Candle this week.  Christingle means ‘Christ Light.’  It is a symbol of the Christian faith and symbolises many things. The orange represents the world, the red ribbon around the middle represents the blood of Christ, shed for his people, the four cocktail sticks represent the four seasons, the fruit and sweets represents the food that God gives us, the candle in the middle is to remind us that Jesus is the light of the world.  The children sang Christmas Carols to the rest of the school, accompanied by the clarinet and the tabla. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
