Chinese New Year

Year One have enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is an important Chinese holiday. It is a time for people to clean their houses and to let go of the past and welcome new beginnings. Chinese New Year is celebrated through different traditions. Money is given in red envelopes. The colour red is for good luck, fortune and joy in Chinese families. In Art the children made Chinese dragons, red envelopes and created some beautiful Chinese blossom. They have been enjoying the role play area which is now a Chinese takeaway and today we completed the topic with a Chinese banquet of noodles, rice and fortune cookies.
