Reception Class have been comparing the weight of objects and trying to guess which is heavier or lighter. After using the balancing bears and penguins, the children set to work to try and find different objects that would balance on the scales. They had to estimate first - does the banana feel about the same weight as an orange? Maybe the red car is heavier than the yellow truck? Then they could test their prediction on the balancing scales. The final challenge was the arrival of some mysterious Christmas presents - lots of surprises, lots of fun and some excellent mathematical vocabulary!
